Thanks for visiting my TechonomicMan blog. My real name is Wayne Barz and I manage the Ben Franklin TechVentures incubator in Bethlehem, PA (you can visit my LinkedIn Profile here). I’ve been involved in the passion and emotion of people launching startups for 27 years. I believe, like Adam Smith, in the overall power of free markets and the concept of the “economic man” and adopted the moniker “TechonomicMan” to update the image for the 21st century.
In 1776, Adam Smith wrote the Wealth of Nations, and explained the economics of markets of the day. In it, he made the following statement: “It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interest.”
TechonomicMan has updated the professions, but not the concepts of this sentiment to: “It is not from the benevolence of the biochemist, the coder, or the electrical engineer that we expect our technology, but from their regard to their own interest.”

I co-host a tech startup radio show in the Lehigh Valley and past episodes can be found here, on SoundCloud.
